  • formerly steam-driven vessel with a very auxiliary ketch rig not used for propulsion but to steady the boat while drifting, used as a lugger for fishering, in the time after that used as a coastal motor vessel
  • the name Alvei means: "anybody who goes all the ways"
  • after decommissioning in 1986 the new owner Evan Logan restored the vessel in Portugal, re-rigging of the ship as a topsail schooner
  • since 1995 the vessel sails in the Pacific most time after finishing the 8-year conversion in Portugal she sailed to Madeira, the Canaries, Barbados, Bequia, Granada, Trinidad, Dutch Antillies, Panama, Costa Rica, Galapagos, Marquesas, Tuamoto, Tahiti & the Sociaty Is., Tutuila, Samoa, Savaii Vava'u, Fiji, Vanuatu, Australia and New Zealand, next sailing target could be a voyage through Indonesia to southeast Asia.
  • the current purpose of the ship is to allow her changing crew to maintain a low cost, self-sufficient lifestyle learning the traditional arts of the sailor.
  • everybody who sails on the ship belongs to the crew and is in common responsible for the maintainance and navigation, watch keeping and sail handling as well as repair (hand-for-berth)
