- replica of the original "Jeanie Johnston" (1847-58), an Irish 19th century emigrant ship built in Quebec, owned by the Donovan family from Tralee, brought Irish emigrants fleeing the potato famine to the US during the Great Famine.
- rebuilt in Tralee, County Kerry, supported by the Irish Government, municipal authorities and a lot of friends of the Jeanie Johnston in Ireland, the United States and Canada.
- a seagoing vessel as well as a living history exhibition, will offer sail training opportunities.
- launched in May 2,000 by the patron of the project, the President of Ireland Mary McAleese, after some delay she was completed until spring 2002.
- left County Kerry, Ireland for the United States & Canada in February 2003, during her North America tour she visited ports on the American and Canadian Atlantic coast, retun to Ireland in October, 2003.
