  • built and completed 1902 at the Chantiers et Ateliers in St. Nazaire and launched under the name "Laennec", collision with an English freighter during her maiden voyage
  • used to transport salpetre from Chile to Europe
  • in WW I the vessel was used to transport stuff from the US to Europe
  • laid up in Nantes in 1921
  • 1923 sold to H.H. Schmidt & Co. from Hamburg/GER who converted the vessel to a freight-carrying training ship for the merchant marine, renamed to "Oldenburg", used to transport salpetre to Europe
  • 1928 purchased by the Segelschiffsreederei "Seefahrt" from Bremen/GER, used as a training ship while continuously transporting salpetre
  • 1931 sold to the Finish government to use her in the Finish Navy, the vessel was moved to Helsinki and from there to the dock of Uusikaupunki for a major refitting, fitted with two auxiliary engines
  • renamed to "Suomen Joutsen" ("Swan from Finland"), until the WW II she sailed 8 voyages training cadets of the Finish Navy
  • in WW II used as a base ship for submarines, mine sweepers and torpedo boats in the archipelago and Gulf of Finland
  • after the war she sailed only a few training voyages in the Baltic Sea
  • served as an accommodation ship in Upinniemi between 1956-1959 and after that as a stationary training ship in Turku for 27 years
  • 1995 an overhaul of the ship was started, she is used as a museum ship today
