- The East Indiaman "Götheborg" is a magnificent 18th century ship made from oak and pine. She is an exact replica of an historical ship as regards line, hull and rigging.
- The original ship "Götheborg" was built at the shipyard Terra Nova in Stockholm 1738. As part of the Swedish East Indiaman fleet she did her maiden voyage to China (Kanton) in October 1739. The town Göteborg in Sweden was her homeport, and she almost completed 3 successful voyages to China and back to Sweden. On her return home in 1745, the East Indiaman "Götheborg" was at last sighted outside the city of Göteborg. She had been away on a long and adventurous voyage to China. Probably the ship sailed off course and ran aground on the well-known sunken rock called "Hunnebådan". During the period 1986-1993, a marine-archaeological excavation of the shipwrecked "Götheborg" was undertaken. It was during this excavation that the idea to build a new East Indiaman was born.
- The replica was built at the shipyard Terra Nova Eriksberg in Göteborg, keel laid in June 1995, assembling of frames 1996-1998, planking started 2000, 2001 yard production, construction of masts and installation of engines, propeller systems and tanks, launched on June 6, 2003; christened on September 3rd, 2004 by Queen Silvia, first sea trials in May 2005.
- October 2005 - June 2007 voyage from Göteborg via South America, South Africa and Australia to China and back through the Suez channel and Mediterranean.
- 2008 Baltic Sea Tour along the Swedish coast and to Helsinki (Finland).
- 2009 Scandinavian tour calling many ports in Norway (Ålesund, Stavanger), Denmark (Frederikshamn) and Sweden (Halmstad)
- 2010 visits in Stockholm, SWE, Hamina, FIN, Amsterdam, NL and Bremerhaven, GER.
- 2012 she visited Den Helder in the Netherlands, Brest in France and Bremerhaven in Germany becoming a main attraction at large maritime festivals.
- during a four-month long tour in 2013 she visited nine countries and fifteen cities around Europe, participation in The Tallships Races in the Baltic Sea and the French maritime festival L'Armada de Rouen.
- 2015 she sailed on a three-and-a-half-months long European Tour visiting 14 cities in 5 countries including Oslo (Norway), the Sail Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and Sail Bremerhaven (Germany).
- 2015 she became the largest sailing ship that ever sailed in the Lake Vänern passing through the Göta Canal and visiting Vänersborg, Kristinehamn, Lidköping, Karlstad and Åmal.
- in May 2016 the owner announced because of the high costs the ship couldn't travel on and was for sale, in February 2021 the Swedish company Greencarrier AB acquired all shares of the Svenska Ostindiska Companiet (SOIC) AB from the foundation Ostindiefararen Götheborg and became the owner, partly to ensure future voyages for example to Asia and China and partly to create further opportunities for the trade with Asia.
