- Australia's biggest sailing training ship was built as a sister ship for the "Spirit of New Zealand" and intended for young people on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the founding of Australia
- the ship was called after a Dutch galleon which which was the first to sail around Cape Leeuwin, the southwestern cape of Australia, in 1622.
- mostly offers 10 day trips for young people
- transfer of seamanship knowledge and personality training. This is also available to groups and companies.
- has mainly sailed in home waters. participated in the Sydney Hobart Tall Ships Race in 1988, and in in the Regatta from Freemantle to Bali (1990)
- her hull was built keel upwards and launched in this position. It was then righted up in the water and slipped again so that the ship could be completed
