  • laid down as a galeasse cargo sailing ship in Denmark in 1942,
  • she was uses in the North Sea for fishing, name was "Dagmar Larsen"
  • several changes of owner, changes of the rig and name of the ship
  • 1951 sold and re-christened "Iris Thy", the rigging was reduced in 1953, 1957 sold, 1961 new owners from Bornholm, re-chistened "Esther Lohse", worked as a fisher of stones used for building of ports and quays
  • the vessel went to Colchester in England in the early 1970s and was rigged as a 3-masted topsail schooner, repair of the hull, rebuilt for sailing with guest, used for filming a series
  • acquired by the Clipper "Deutsches Jugendwerk zur See" project in 1978 when it was then extensively restored, re-planked and the rigging renewed. Since then, the ship has been a sailing centre for social-educational youth work.
  • the vessel's function is aptly described in the association's constitution as follows: "The purpose of this association is to provide all young people interested in sailing the opportunity to learn about traditional seafaring on board suitable sailing ships with competent and educational instruction."
  • her sailing area usually is the Baltic from April to October
